On January 30th, 1999; Sis. Joann
Jeter and a few Christian Soldiers( Sis. Pauline Jeter, Sis. Ann
Cohen, Sis. Ashley Glenn and Sis. Carmelita Woods) set out to
do something that God had laid on Joann's heart to do for some
time; visit nursing homes. Mrs. Pauline Jeter started the day
off with a prayer as they got into their vehicles to spread joy
and love to those who had no family to care for them. Originally
the ministry was intending to go to two nursing homes in the Spartanburg
community, Hall's and Moutainview. Their purpose would be to go
into the nursing homes and share scripture, sing songs of praise
and to just be there for the patients to talk to.
After arriving at Hall's Nursing
Home, the soldiers lead the patients in a devotional service with
such soul-stirring selections as: "Do You Know The Man",
"Yes Jesus Loves Me", This Little Light of Mine"
and "Come By Here Lord". They were well recieved by
the patients and the visit was concluded with hugs, kisses, gift
bags and "I Love You's" from everyone.
They continue to visit nursing
homes on a monthly basis.
