The Monks Grove Junior
Choir originated in the late 60's und the leadership of the late Sis.
Pauline Brewton, wife of former pastor Rev. K.R. Brewton. As the years
went by, sister Elruby Jeter Cates took on the leadership position.
God continued to plant more musicians in His vineyard in the persons
of the Diane Means Johnson, Nezzie Smith Jeter, Deothus Jeter Jr.,
Delores Smith Young and Steven L. Jeter.
As the years progressed, our youth grew older and with an influx of
younger children joining, the decision was made to split the choir
up. They now would be known as the Monks Grove Sunbeam Choir, the
Monks Grove Children's Choir and the Monks Grove Junior Choir.
In 1988, Steven Jeter needed someone to assist him in the music ministry
and once again God was there to provide the answer. Sis. Frances Jeter
was called to serve as the advisor for these groups where she has
faithfully served every since.
Again in the 1990's the junior choir began to suffer from growing
pains as these once children began to graduate high school. The name
was changed once again to it's present name, Monks Grove Young Adult
Choir. They have travelled extensively to do concerts in various cities
including: Myrtle Beach, Charleston, Columbia South Carolina as well
as St. Loius, Missouri to name a few.
They give all thanks and praise to God for giving them the gift to
sing and lift up the name of Jesus.
You can hear them sing every Sunday except 4th Sunday!
